Breakfast Stuff
Here's what I made the family for breakfast this morning, an awesome breakfast sandwich. But is it healthy you ask?
Two slices of sourdough thins: 120 calories
Two eggs: 160 calories
Slice of cheese: 90 calories
Total: 370 calories
I'm guessing on calorie content, that's a pretty decent breakfast. But what about the nutrition value of the ingredients?
According to Poindexter here at the Mayo clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cholesterol/HQ00608/), eggs are high in cholesterol but fine if you don't eat too many of them. Since they have awesome protein, I'm going with HEALTHY.
Sourdough bread? According to this guy: http://www.danreid.org/health-alerts-sour-dough-health.asp, not only is sourdough bread healthy, it is, after spirulina (yeahoo), the 'staff of life'. I'm not too sure about that but I'm gonig to say sourdough bread, in moderate quantities, is slightly healthy...or NEUTRAL
Cheese? There are billions of conflicting articles but according to this neutral site: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/dairy-and-egg-products/154/2 , the cheese is not so healthy, not horrible for you but not great either. So we'll say slightly unhealthy.
I came up with a point to all of this while I was eating but then my youngest daughter spontaneously started singing a song she just made up called "Daddy's Armpits Are Hairy". The lyrics are as follows: DADDY'S ARMPITS ARE HAIRY!!! DADDY'S ARMPITS ARE HAIIIIIRRRRYYYYY!!!....and so on and so on.
Long story short, my breakfast wasn't great for me but it wasn't bad for me. I figure as long as I don't mow down one of my breakfast sandwiches all the time, I'll be doing just fine.
And one final thought, my armpits are indeed hairy

SPIRULINA SNEAK ATTACK!
Its been hotter than a well digger's asshole this past week so this morning I wanted to have something light and refreshing for breakfast. I decided to make berry smoothies in the Vitamix 5200 for the family....the only thing is, I snuck some spirulina and protein powder in and didn't tell the kids. Like a freaking 1978 Folgers instant coffee commercial around here! POW! Here's the video of my youngest giving it a shot. The video ends abruptly because the wife called and it sent my phone into some kind of weird ass haywire mode that made the video stop.

Father's Day Special!
Recently a few people have commented that they'd like more videos on the Gut Chronicles and in particular, they'd like more videos featuring my zany kids. I'm a man who likes to please his audience so I decided yesterday to try a video of me, doing a radical running flip into the pool while encased from armpit to calf in four of the floating rings pictured above. I did two trial runs and my kids said it was 'stupid' and 'a dud' and since I hurt my eye on the second attempt, I decided to scrap that video idea (Hey, it was physical fitness, just in a more free form way).
That takes us to this morning, Father's Day 2012. My wish for Father's Day was to get up early and go on a family bike ride to my favorite breakfast joint. The wife and kids indulged me and by 7:15am, we were off on our adventure. Enjoy the video. (side note, if you open this and say to yourself "That crazy dipshit actually posted a 10 minute long video of him and his family riding to and eating breakfast???" The answer is.. Yes, yes I did)

Friday Musings on National Bike to Work Day
I'm just going to come right out and say it, I didn't bike to work on National Bike To Work Day, the 'work' part of the equation prohibited me from doing so (more like laziness).
Having said that, here are some hot Friday headlines:
- One of my buddies in Cincinnati is so inspired by my biking greatness that he decided to get his bike tuned up earlier this week and he went for a 14 mile ride this morning. Highlights from his ride are a sore ass and he saw a giant turtle in the middle of the road. I ask you, how much more excitement can you ask for on a Friday morning than a good ride and a turtle sighting? Unless you're a Facebook employee on the day of Facebook's IPO (Search optimization says what?), your Friday can't get much better than that!
- Since I drove this morning, I took the opportunity to fill up the 2003 G35 with sport tuned suspension. To my shock and horror, gas was $4.40 per gallon at COSTCO! Holy freaking balls of fire that's a huge stack of cash!
- I've managed to get the wife to start making me green smoothies again for breakfast in the morning. I swear on the eyes of my dead dog Penny that green smoothies (spinach, spirulina, fruit, etc.) are the way to go for breakfast. I feel like a caged beast and my bowel movements are a thing of beauty!
- In the last two weeks, I've rode to work eight out of the ten work days. On top of that, I've been to the gym nearly every day. I've dropped a couple of pounds but my wine and snack consumption has been shocking. I wish they'd have 'National Don't eat a box of Cheez-its and drink so much wine every night month'. Then I'd be in business.
- Yesterday was a huge day for the Gut Chronicles. I'm not sure why my hit count is increasing but if I can double the number of hits I get per day for 87 consecutive days and go from 45 page views to like 15 million per day, I can quit my job and become a full time blogger

President's Day Weekend Beach Ride...Sort of
Today was supposed to be a glorious day for going to the beach 2nd week in a row. Turns out it was a crappy day for a beach run but we just don't give a shit. It's a three day weekend for f*ck's sake and we're going to get our beach on!
